gillianflynn1Why a Newsletter?

We’re all connected on social media these days, right? I know I am. And I know that if you post something at the exact moment I’m visiting the site, I will definitely see it.

For many things we tweet or post, that’s an appropriate level of importance.

But when we definitely want to share something with others, we contact them directly.

This newsletter is your newsletter. If you are a subscriber writing in the mystery or suspense genres and have an upcoming pre-sale date or new book release, please let me know in advance so I can include your news with applicable links.

If you are a reader in the mystery or suspense genres and have read a book you’d like to share with others, please let me know (and please include a link to your Amazon or Goodreads review).

You’ll be hearing from me regularly during the summer (explanation below), so I’ll be able to include your news fairly quickly. In September, we’ll try to do this monthly.

irisesTHE IRISES DEBUT

Published June 1, 2015!

Cynthia Lott’s “The Irises is an electric tale of the supernatural, of murder at an old cemetery, of a demonic being who lays wait in a funeral parlor he calls home, and where the unsuspecting proprietors of a modern day business find that present day life is as much a part of history, as is each corpse they embroider with their craft.”

"A sultry and sexy New Orleans sets the scene for a sinister encounter with a malevolent ghost. Still reeling from his last spectral encounter, the appealing hero, Roy Agnew, must draw on all his resources to keep more people from dying. This book is a must for all lovers of ghosts, mysteries, and New Orleans."– 5-stars Amazon Review

"In her sequel to The Feathers, where wicked winds and evil tear through New Orleans, Cynthia Lott gives us another bolt of literary lightening. The Irises is an electric tale of the supernatural, of murder at an old cemetery, of a demonic being who lays wait in a funeral parlor he calls home, and where the unsuspecting proprietors of a modern day business find that present day life is as much a part of history, as is each corpse they embroider with their craft."–David Marks Goodreads Review

Cynthia was working on this, Book 2 of her Southern Spectral Series, while I was drafting my second Walter Forbes mystery in March (her first, The Feathers is already haunting my Kindle device with its creepy late-70s New Orleans vibe). Go Cynthia!

macdeathMACDEATH REVIEW

Starting June 18, Cindy Brown is demonstrating that she’s every bit as brave as her plucky heroine Ivy Meadows. She’ll be spending this summer in Lone Fir Cemetery signing copies of MACDEATH, while Portland Actors Ensemble performs Mac… I mean, “The Scottish Play.” Here’s my review of MACDEATH.

We’ll be hearing more from Ivy Meadows very soon.

LastHeartthrobcopy2LAST HEARTTHROB

In June, I will be releasing the first three chapters or “episodes” of a serialized noir called Last Heartthrob: A Walter Forbes Mystery.

June 11 - The Gunshots and the Suspect Signal

June 18 - Out of the Past

June 25 - Did My Heart Skip a Beat?

So why am I doing a serial instead of a book release? Last year, listeners to the podcast Serial had a lot of fun trying to solve a true-life crime that lacked closure.

Since I had a mystery story with an actual solution, I thought it might be fun to share the real-world “evidence” and investigate this case together.
